Ceramic Implants

Ceramic constitutes a comparatively new material in the field of dental implantology. This material is particularly attractive for patients who have a critical attitude towards medical materials made from metal and who therefore want to avoid undergoing an implantation involving titanium. Further candidates for ceramic implants include patients who do not qualify for titanium implants due to allergies, rheumatism, diabetes, or metabolic disorder. It should be noted that the healing process takes approximately twice as long with ceramic implants than with titanium.

  • Good compatibility
  • However, there are no long-term studies or empirical values thus far

  • Long healing process
  • Higher costs than for titanium
